be sent by 1 July to receive interest that
is returned to the detachment.

Lee Cloer, Commandant:
1) Info on the website now includes
minutes.
2) Magnetic sign template was
reviewed and approved by detachment
3) March 13 th Drill Practice-
breakfast at Two Brothers 9 am.
4) April 3rd “Get together
and cook out (covered dish style) chow call 3-4
PM
at Lee’s House.
5) April 17th State Meeting.-
6) Detachment will cover the
cost of the rooms.

Turkey Shoot Findraiser
The committee will establish guidelines by drill
practice and work on time and place so advertising
and promotion of the event can commence.
Toys for Tots
Lou Slagle reported that nationally it
was the best year in the 56 year history with
the delivery of 11 million toys to 6 ½
million kids.
Commandant's Report:
1] R. Hughes, L. Slagle and L.
Cloer went to the State Staff Meeting held in
Greensboro on Saturday Jan 23rd. One item discussed
was the 2005 convention which Lee suggested could
be a good opportunity for Smoky Mtn., Blue Ridge
[Asheville], and Cherokee [Murphy] to sponsor
and bring the League to Western NC. Possible site
is Harrah's Convention Center. This will be a
topic at the next State Staff Meeting Apr. 17th.
2] L. Cloer, in an effort to
expand the impact of the Marine Corps League in
Franklin, has developed the following:
(a) Posters to be placed with
local businesses
(b) Public Service Announcements
on local radio
(c) Magnetic Car signs; awaiting
approval
(d) Website for Smoky Mountain
Det.
(e) Will be contacting officials
who will set up celebration for the return of
the 210th Army National Guard and will offer the
Det. Color Guard and in May for the WW!! Dedication
Old Business:
Look at and approve the red, white and blue for
the Det. door magnets
Cover the upcoming meetings and convention

New Business:
Sons of American Legion is having a Mother’s
Day golf tournament and the detachment
can buy one the holes and display a sign or banner
for $50.
