Business meeting suspended and guest speakers introduced:
Larry Ford and Judy Elliot from Congressman Taylor’s office to discuss the Veterans Replacement Medal Program.
Cmdr White
and Past Cmdr Crumb from the American Legion and Cmdr Elliot of the VFW were invited to attend.

Larry explained the aspects of the Medals, ribbons and awards program that is available to all veterans and their families to receive one set of metals free . The plan is to have a presentation ceremony for the veterans and their families at some future date three to four months away. The issue before him is to get the word out to the veterans and for interested parties to sign the release forms.

Judy Elliot provided us with information that working through the Veterans Office is the usual first step but if there were issues that she could assist with she could be contacted at the Murphy office in the Cherokee County Courthouse 704 837-3249. She also suggested that members file their DD-214 at their County Court house. The security of the document can be assured if a specific authorized release list accompanies the DD-214.
