Minutes of Marine Corps League 973
September 28th, 2004
Am. Legion Annex
Meeting commenced at 1900 hours:
Members present: 16
Opening ceremonies completed
Guests:
• Pvt.
Elijah Henry and Pvt. Jason Tippett, which are
recent graduates of Parris Island and home on
recruiting leave, next stop Camp Geiger. They
showed us the new
utility uniforms that are now standard issue for
Marines.
• Jesse
McWatt, Gunnery Sergeant retired and formerly
of Charlotte chapter of the Marine Corps League
has relocated to Silva, NC.
New Members put up for nomination:
• Nolan
Beeson, prior member and one of the few Enlisted
Pilots.
• Russell
Faulkner, retired Col. With 24 years in the Marine
Corps and 14 years in the Army is relocating from
South Carolina.
Motion made to accept new members, moved
and seconded.
> Previous Minutes read and approved.
> Paymasters report read and approved.
Standing Committees:
>October 'Toys
for Tots' Lou Slagle- Chair.
• We will
rent Half of the old dry cleaners on Palmer street
at a cost of $130/month
> Marine Corps
Ball , Don Lanson - Chair
• Reported
expenditures in area of $600 for the Ball.
• Votes
for approving the Piper $150 and Ron Allen music
$100 were approved.
• Don presented
a Check from the Am Legion for the cadets meals.
> Rifle Raffle
• Car Show,
Fair Grounds, VFW, Wal-Mart all bringing in good
revenue in spite of
Hurricane Ivan which hit the Fairgrounds.
New Business:
• Bob Euting
will coordinate the Wreath Ceremony with the Court
house for the
November 10th remembrance ceremony.

Oct 2nd - rifle raffle
• Color
Guard Oct 8th for Panther Home game
• Future
discussion Items:
• Float
for Christmas Parade and Fund raisers.
