September 30th was the 2006 Season Kick-off Luncheon for the Toys for Tots Campaign. Volunteers from all over Marine Corps League of Franklin’s coverage area showed up to enjoy burgers and hot dogs, take photos for the Toys for Tots badges they will be wearing, and to receive their promotional materials for to use in their communities.
The Marine Corps League operates the Toys for Tots program for Swain, Jackson and Macon Counties of NC, and the North Georgia counties, Rabun, Habersham and Stephens.
The 2006 Toys for Tots is headquartered at 647 Wayah Street, near the corner of Depot and Wayah Street in Franklin, NC.

In 2005, with your help and wonderful donations we were able to provide toys to 942 children. We want to thank all of our communities for their support in the way of donations and volunteering. Being able to put smiles on the faces of needy children in our area could not be done without you.

This season you will see the familiar donation boxes and change jugs in our communities at different retail spaces, gas stations and lots of other locations. There will also be donation events, like the Toys for Tots Car Show, November 11th at Smoky Mountain Chevrolet in Franklin, NC as well as the Franklin Square Dancers Club on December 3rd at the Macon County Community Center located in Franklin. Be on the lookout for these events. Remember when donating toys we are only allowed to accept new, unwrapped toys.

This very important program helps brings smiles to children at Christmas time and the members of the Marine Corps League feel blessed to be a part of it.
